The COPS Office
The DeTal Center is funded by the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) office through the U.S. Department of Justice. The DeTal assessment and research center supports the mission of the COPS office to optimization educational/training approaches for officer communication, self-regulation, decision-making, behavioral responses, and safety in service to community members.
Responsibilities
Partners participate in meetings and WIU Project Director serves as members of the Regional De-Escalation Training Centers Advisory Board.
Western Illinois University
All assessment and research activities through the COPS DeTal Center have ethical oversight and approval. The Office of Sponsored Projects at WIU is committed to the highest standards of scientific and scholarly integrity. All sponsored projects and research activities at WIU are governed by institutional, federal and state policies or laws.
Reporting
Partners provide regular projects updates as activities occur and report monthly progress to the DOJ COPS Office.
Missouri Safety Center at UCMO
All assessment and research activities through the COPS DeTal Center have ethical oversight and approval. The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Integrity (OSPRI) at UCMO is committed to the highest standards of scientific and scholarly integrity. All sponsored projects and research activities at UCMO are governed by institutional, federal and state policies or laws.
Curriculum Development
All curriculum and materials will be approved through the COPS office prior to delivery and training will be reported through appropriate COPS channels.
